Sunday, after Tim and I downed shared two bottles of champagne and waffles for brunch,
we headed to the beach.
There are so many great beaches in the L.A. area, but some of them get SO overrun with people when it's warm outside, especially from May- September.
(Major tourist season.)
When Tim and I don't feel like driving all the way to the North end of Malibu or fighting the crowds at Will Rogers, we head south to Playa Del Rey.
When Tim and I first started dating, he lived in PDR in a huge condo he shared with his coworker.
(I miss that kitchen so much.)
Occasionally, we would head down to the beach to
play basketball
cuddle under blankets at night
take long walks
etc.
It's still one of my favorite beaches to go to.
It's unassuming, but gorgeous.
A lot of locals, especially families seem to go here
giving it a Ventura County beach vibe
that reminds me a little bit of home.
Tim likes it because it's really close to LAX airport
and he gets to watch planes take off and land.
Surprisingly,
I never really notice the airplane sound.
Maybe they're too high up by the time they fly over the ocean
or
maybe I just know how to block it out
from all those nights laying in bed with Tim in PDR
from the beginning of our relationship.
One thing to know:
This beach is pretty big with the bike riding crowd.
Be careful when crossing over the paved path through the middle of the sand...
I've almost gotten hit by cyclists numerous times.
Even though the water is super cold
and
it wasn't that warm out,
I insisted that Tim and I run into the ocean.
There's something about that icy crash of the waves on my bare legs
that makes me feel
so alive.
It might seem corny, but it's so true for me.
It's amazing to me to be part of this huge ocean
if only for a few minutes.
One of the waves was bigger than we anticipated and
it soaked us.
It was wonderful.
I couldn't stop laughing.
I love moments like that.

Please send the warm weather this way so I can go to my beach! I'm hoping it warms up soon and I can enjoy a little quiet beach time before it gets taken over by all the tourists till August.

I don't know if you understand the jealousy I have for you, since you live that close to the ocean. I think I was born a mermaid that lost my fin at some point... Mostly because I love the water. I love it so MUCH! I love wading my feet, snorkeling, diving, swimming, lounging, i mean you name it! Anyway, your pictures are gorgeous.
I love this! We've been to that beach and it is lovely :)
Also, I love the champagne and waffle brunch.
Beautiful! :)
I'm super jealous here in Minnesota! Maybe I'll have to just live vicariously through your photos :)
Gorgeous. I love the beach. I'm in Oregon, we have a "coast" that has some sand, and I love it, but you have a beach. And now I am looking up flights to SoCal.
YOU LIVE IN L.A.!? I just moved here from San Diego!! I'm trying to meet fellow bloggers from L.A.! So fellow Yogi.. I am now following you as well! There is an excellent studio I have been going to. I'm sure you know of a few. So what part of L.A.?
