Did you know that there is an adult side to the Disneyland Resort? When most people think of Disneyland they think of little kids, not so thrilling thrill rides, and standing in long lines with crying babies. Well, as a Disneyland aficionado, I'm here to tell you that there is just so so so much more.
The Disneyland Resort houses Disneyland, Disney's California Adventure, Downtown Disney and three hotels (The Disneyland Hotel, The Grand Californian, and Paradise Pier). There are endless things to experience within the Disney gates and there really is something for kids of all ages.
At 25 years old, I no longer crave the trips to the park that involve carefully mapping out the day and then running around to get on all the "best" rides. I prefer to take my time, savor the day, and enjoy parts of the park that might often otherwise be overlooked. While I've personally been to Disneyland about 100 times in my life (I know, crazy, right?) I am finding out about more and more hidden gems now that Tim works for the company.
When he mentioned to me yesterday over lunch that there is a tiki bar, well, I knew we had to check it out.

Located at The Disneyland Hotel, Trader Sam's is a genuine Disney Tiki Bar. It is fashioned after Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room and offers a delightful indoor/ outdoor dining and drinking experience. Fun Fact: Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room was initially supposed to be a restaurant so I personally love that they actually somewhat made that happen later. Learn more about that original plan here.
Trader Sam's consists of a small indoor bar area, a sprawling outdoor patio, and a smaller deck that overlooks the Disneyland pool. Lanterns are strung overhead, two Hawaiian singers croon lilting melodies while strumming ukeleles, couples on vacation dance, and a mix of tables and lounge benches complete the setup.

Tim and I quickly found a seat on an outdoor lounge even though the bar was busy on a Saturday night. The air was balmy and welcoming and we settled into what was very much an adult bar scene with all the magic of Disney.
Next came the drinks. We both ordered Rosita's Margaritas. These tropical cocktails were made using Reposado Tequila, Orange Curacao, Organic Agave Nectar, Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice, and Falernum. Delicious and strong. At 10.50 each they were actually really reasonable considering the setting.

The tiki bar offers many other fun themed drinks including a "Shipwreck On The Rocks", "A Shrunken Zombie Head", and a "HippopotoMai-Tai." Amazing.
We sipped our drinks under the stars, cuddled on our lounge, and when all was said and done had a great date night... at Disney.
Where's your favorite place to go for date night?

Tim works for Disney?!? And you went to Disneyland for date night? I can't express how jealous I am! When my husband and I were dating and travelling in America we spent 2 days there with friends and go to spend the night venturing around disneyland after my friends went back to the hotel- it was magical! However we didn't get a chance to see the cool little places like the tiki bar- looks amazing!
Great pictures. I am the other co-host for Le Corner Cafe, nice to "meet" you!
how fun!! the boy and i are headed to Disneyland in December to check out all the Christmas decorations, but I may have to add this to the list!
I've never actually been to Disney. Who knew they'd have a tiki bar?! Since we both LOVE to eat, our date nights almost always consist of going out to dinner :)

What a cool place. I didn't even know it existed. I was 21 when I went to Disney and I really liked all the shops and clubs at Downtown Disney.
